Commission skin cancer

Presently the „Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dermatologische Prävention (ADP) e. V.“ is engaged in the early diagnosis and prevention of skin cancer. Since 1989 she performs together with the „ Deutsche Krebshilfe e.V.“ cooperatly activities to inform the population of early diagnosis and prevention of skin cancer.

Therewith it should be achieved that the danger of UV-radiation will be correctly estimated and the most important rules for the exposure to the sun will be taken for granted.

Measurable attitude changes become apparent in the sun behaviour by the increasing use of textil protection, sunscreen and the increasing utilization of the early diagnosis programs.

The number of skin cancer is increasing. Only in Germany actually 140.000 new persons come down with skin cancer every year.

More than 3000 persons are dieing from skin cancer every year.

In 2003/2004 ADP together with „ Deutsche Krebshilfe e.V.“ conducted - on behalf of the federation committee of pyhsicians and health insurance companies - the project „skin cancer screening“ with 1.700 pyhsicians in the country Schleswig-Holstein.

More than 366.000 participants made this study to the world greatest skin cancer prevention study. As a result of this pilot project the common federation committee has determined to establish a countrywide skin cancer screening , initially limited for 5 years. The introduction took place on 1st of July 2008.
